He holds a BA and MFA from Columbia University. Arlen is the co-editor with Silvia Federici of The New York Wages for Housework Movement 1972 - 1979: History, Theory and Documents. His writings and archival projects have appeared in GLQ. A Journal of Lesbian and Gay Studies, TDR: The Theatre and Drama Review, differences: A Journal of Feminist Cultural Studies, and as part of the "Abusable Past" series from Radical History Review.
One obvious lesson of Steve Wright’s new book is not to confuse political possibility with media saturation and ceaseless engagement. At the same time, it is instructive to revisit a popular tradition in which distrust of mainstream media and enjoyment of its popular subversion took a radically progressive form.
